Description:

979-0-66000-471-5 Bach J. S. English Suites (4–6). Edition by E. Petry, Compozitor Publishing House Saint-Petersburg

These six suites for keyboard are thought to be the earliest set that Bach composed. Originally, their date of composition was thought to have been between 1718 and 1720, but more recent research suggests that the composition was likely earlier, around 1715, while the composer was living inWeimar. Up to now it is not fully clear why those works got an ‘English’ name. By its style they can be rather ascribe to French or Italian clavier style, according to the words of prominent Bach researcher, M. Druskin.
The present volume is edited by the well known pianist of the XX century, Egon Petri, famous for his Bach interpretations.
English suites are being performed all around the globe, from music schools and colleges to the most prestigious concert halls.
