Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) - great German composer, pianist, conductor. The last Viennese classicist, author of world-famous symphonies, the opera Fidelio, quartets, thirty-two piano sonatas and many other works in almost all musical genres.
Beethoven wrote five concertos for piano and orchestra.
Concerto No. 4 in G major for piano and orchestra, op. 58, written in 1805–1806.
This concerto is one of Beethoven's most inspired works in this genre. The concert is clearly unique in its themes, manner of presentation, and virtuosic techniques. Particularly noteworthy is the slow movement, constructed in the form of a dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra. The concert showed the composer's characteristic tendency to symphonize the genre. This tendency was embodied in the music of subsequent eras, right up to the works of the twentieth century in this genre.
Beethoven's Fourth Concerto was performed by many famous pianists: Arthur Schnabel, Wilhelm Backhaus, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Maurizio Pollini, Maria Yudina, Claudio Arrau, Emil Gilels, Alfred Brendel...
The concert has three parts:
I. Allegro moderato
II. Andante con moto
III. Rondo. Vivace
The publication is recommended for students of conservatories, colleges and senior grades of children's music schools.
