Description:
979-0-66000-613-9 Prokofiev S. Ten pieces for piano. Op. 12, Compozitor Publishing House Saint-Petersburg
Ten pieces by Prokofiev constitute a vivid example of neoclassic style in Prokofiev’s musical heritage. This warmly humorous album is equally appealing to both young pianists and concert artists. The reson for this is that in the heart of this music lies play, almost childlish pretend, make-believe. Style, form, rhythm, texture of the music itself – everything hints that the message is not serious, nowithstanding ‘adult’ genres used: March, Gavotte, Rigaudon, Mazurka in the first part, Capriccio, Legend, Prelude, Scherzo in the second. The atmosphere of the cycle resembles clarity of his Classical Symphony, clear music language and laconic almost aphoristic utterance, sometimes not without parody, which is inherent in the young Prokofiev’s style.
