Doctor of Art History Vladimir Petrovich Konnov and Candidate of Art History Igor Vladimirovich Tomashevsky teach at the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen (St. Petersburg), are the authors of numerous scientific publications, in which an honorable place belongs to the outstanding Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. In the context of common European cultural ties, tendencies of Goetheanism and philosophical esotericism, it examines the main musical genres of Bruckner's legacy (symphony and mass), studies the Bruckner symphonic concept, analyzes various editions of his symphonies and the features of their orchestration, traces historical parallels with the work of G. Wolff, I Sibelius, D. Shostakovich, a review of Western European and Russian Bruckner studies is made.
