17741МИ Poniatowski S.P. The Origins of Orchestral Performance in Russia, publishing house "Muzyka" Moscow
The publication is dedicated to the origin of orchestral performance in Russia. Beginning with the first attempts at the end of the 17th century, during the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich, and then under Peter the Great and under Anna Ioannovna, when the Italian opera was first staged on the Russian stage, orchestral performance became a noticeable phenomenon in cultural life. The further development of performance continued and significantly expanded under the Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, and all this led to the formation of two symphony orchestras from the combined group of court musicians - the First and Second, but this already happened in the era of Catherine the Great.
The author of the study made extensive use of new archival materials that have become available recently, which made it possible to eliminate some serious contradictions and paradoxes left over from historiographers and art historians of the past.
The publication is addressed to students and teachers of music universities and all those interested in domestic orchestral art.
