The present collection includes all the letters of the Russian chemist and composer Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin (1833-1887) discovered so far.
The first volume contains 176 letters, four of which are missing from Sergei Alexandrovich Dianin's edition (1928). A previously unpublished drawing by Borodin is reproduced. In cases where the autographs of the letters have been preserved, the text has been verified according to the original sources. The first volume also includes genealogies of Borodin and his wife and a foreword by Dianin, which has not lost its relevance to this day.
