Sonata for arpeggione and piano was written by F. Schubert in November 1824 in Vienna. And although the string instrument itself, designed by the Viennese master I. G. Stauffer, quickly fell out of use, the sonata became widely famous. Today the work is most often performed by cello or viola and piano, but there are also transcriptions for other instruments.
This arrangement for cello and guitar aims to convey the author's intent as accurately as possible in terms of instrumental touches, phrasing and articulation; Detailed fingering is provided for all technically difficult passages.
Intended for students of music colleges and conservatories, as well as for performance by concert musicians.
