Stanislav Yaroshevsky (b. 1985) composer, soloist-regulator of the flute group of the orchestra of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, associate professor, head of the department of wind and percussion instruments at the Maimonides Academy Institute of the Russian State University. He wrote three Fantasias for flute and piano on the themes of three operas of the 19th century ("Faust" by C. Gounod, "Otello" by G. Verdi and "Prince Igor" by A. Borodin). This edition presents the second of them.
This Fantasy was written in 2011-2012. First performed by the author and pianist Marina Belashuk in the Beethoven Hall of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia on November 16, 2016 (it was performed several times before the official premiere). It has been repeatedly performed in Moscow and other cities of Russia, including by students of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnesins, the Academy named after Maimonides and other universities.
