Tchaikovsky's last orchestral suite is a kind of tribute to the great Viennese classic, beloved composer of Pyotr Ilyich. It includes four works by W. A. Mozart, orchestrated by the Russian composer in 1887. The first part is the Little Gigue (K 574), the second is the Minuet (K 355), the third is the motet "Aveverum corpus" (K 618) in piano arrangement by F. Liszt, the fourth is Ten variations on a theme from the opera by K. V. Gluck " An unexpected meeting" (K 455).
In the preface to the first edition, the composer wrote: "The author of the arrangement of the suite entitled "Mozartiana" had in mind to give a new reason for more frequent the performance of these pearls of musical creativity, unpretentious in form, but full of unattainable beauty."
