Vladimir Popolzin (*1960) was born in Barnaul. Having graduated from the Novosibirsk M. I. Glinka Conservatoire he started working as a conductor of the professional Russian folk instruments orchestra. The beginning of his career was also marked by the participation in the duet of accordionists (Germany); the laureateship of the first TV project “Minute of Popularity” together with the ensemble “Crystal Harmony” (Russia, Ukraine, USA); victory at the International Competition in Castelfidardo (2000, 2010) together with Yana Fedoruk as a participant of the duet “Yava Band”.
Vladimir Popolzin’s pedagogical career lasts for 25 years. His students in music school, college and institute are awarded prizes at different international competitions.
V. Popolzin’s creative discoveries are successfully used by the Russian and world performers. Popolzin’s arrangement to the themes of the French waltz-musettes “Souvenir de Paris” was performed by the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra.
The same year Popolzin’s compositions were performed as follows:
— Composition to A. Dvorzak’s “Humoresque”. Performed by the accordionists’ trio of Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region). The first prize at the contest between the students of 13–15 years. “Peter’s and Paul’s Fortress Assemblies”;
— Arrangement to T. Khrennikov’s theme “Moscow Windows”. Performed by the Russian folk instruments’ orchestra “Metelitsa (Blizzard)” at the gala-concert in the St. Petersburg Academic Kapelle;
— Arrangement to T. Khrennikov’s “Moscow Windows” performed by the Swedish duet, was awarded the 1st prize at the national contest of young accordionists in 2010.
