The proposed book is unusual, as is the fate of its author. The legendary Russian jazz double bassist and bass guitarist, Alexei Isplatovsky (1946-2021) was also a symphony musician - for many years he led the double bass group of the State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography. During his bright creative life, Isplatovsky actively performed - and always at a high level of performance - in these different genres. And he really managed to be in his place, surrounded by friends and colleagues with whom he did one common thing.
A. Isplatovsky's memoirs cover more than half a century (starting from the 1950s) and captivate with genuine sincerity and depth. The author warmly remembers his teachers, friends, colleagues, talks about many musicians with whom fate brought him together, and also cites many funny stories, which are innumerable among touring artists.
The book is illustrated with photographs from the family archive of A. Isplatovsky. It is of interest to a wide range of musicians and music lovers.

During the preparation of the book for publication, unfortunately, Alexei Isplatovsky passed away. Some of the facts stated in the memoirs may have partly lost their relevance or become outdated. Nevertheless, the editors considered it possible not to change anything and leave everything as it was intended by the author.
