Sonor presents a new SQ1 drums series — a new dimension of sound. Birch shells in combination with the new Sound Sustainer technology create the basis of a series of drums with exceptional sound characteristics. All this, with the addition of an exclusive matte varnish coating, allowed us to create a new concept of drums for live performances and work in the studio.
All SQ1 drums are manufactured in Germany.

Birch is the Secret of the Sound Versatility.
The shells of the SQ1 series drums are completely made of European birch. Due to its sound characteristics, the balance of low, medium and high frequencies, birch wood drums are very popular both for recording and for live work. During the development of SQ1, Sonor engineers tested several combinations of materials for birch shells and came to the conclusion that only pure birch can provide the drum with a versatile sound. The unique technology of cross-veneering without tension (CLTF Cross Laminated Tension Free Process) and the process of optimal shell measurement (OSM Optimum Shell Measurement) provide excellent sustain and ease of tuning.

Sound Sustainer is an Intelligent Drum Joint.
For decades, Sonor has been collaborating with scientific institutes to optimize the acoustic characteristics of its drums. During this time, numerous innovative concepts of drum mounting systems have been developed. The new Sound Sustainer technology is based on concepts used in the automotive industry. The two-component connection (from rubber to metal) allows you to completely isolate the metal bracket and the wooden housing. This guarantees a particularly long and clean sustain, not only for volumes, but also for all SQ1 series floor volumes.

Inspired by Classic Cars SQ1 Look.
The colors and styles of the legendary classics of cars became the inspiration for choosing the color of the SQ1 series. The four matte colors are applied by hand with precise grinding, polishing and Sonor varnish coating. A special varnish is used to seal all the internal parts of the shells.
